An Approach to Practice:

The medicine rattle is filled with rocks, teeth, claws, and produces a rough, full tone. It clears the way. It makes room through obscurations. And in such clarity, there is space for heartful intention, to send forth prayer, and from such intention there can be creation. Or, in such clarity there can be entrainment to coherent resonance; there can be the calling forth of joy, wellness, energy or wholeness. 

Size: Sizes will vary slightly, though in general these are about 4” wide, and 18” long from end to end.

When And How Will It Ship: This rattle typically will ship the day of or after ordering. It ship with FedEx, and will arrive typically 3-7 days after shipment.

Product Description: Rattles have been used historically to keep rhythm during ceremony. They create an entrancing sound, that Native people have known to affect our bodies and mind. The rattle as a whole is made to represent the plant kingdom (the wooden handle), the animal kingdom (the hide) and the earth kingdom (the fill). It can help us focus inward and move energy within us, helping to unblock stopped up energy or direct energy for specific purposes. Even if you just sit and shake the rattle, the noise of the rattle will help to ease your mind and will take you into a more centered and relaxed emotional place.

These authentic, beautiful, well-voiced Native American Medicine Rattles, are handmade for us by a Maidu Tribal Member (who as well makes our drums). These are generally our most powerful rattles for ceremony. The length of the rattle, quality of fill, and the size of the hide come together to make a rougher piercing rattle sound than many of our other softer sounding rattles. They are like lightning, creating clear whole notes, and are highly effective.

We have these rattles available in Elk, Bear, Buffalo, or Moose Hide, with or without fur. These are commonly filled with the teeth and nails of small animals. The fur may be the same as the hide, or of coyote. Each rattle comes with one type of fur. We cannot guarantee specific fur requests. However, you may make your preferences known in the 'Special Instructions" area at the end of your order form. We will accommodate where we are able.
