Product Description:

This meditation gong is made by Chris Anderson. He is an instrument inventor, who invented the euphonium. He is now making different instruments, and we are very fortunate that he has agreed to make these large tubular bell gongs for us. 

The bell is multi-tonal when struck. After 10 or so seconds, the tone settles down into a consistent low pulsing sustain. The real joy and power of this instrument is in the long and entrancing sustain. It is not loud; it would be hard to hear in a room with other noise. It is perfect for a quiet meditation hall or room, or quiet therapy room, where meditators, practitioners, or clients could benefit from resting and listening to the pulsing low tone.

This would be excellent for a massage therapist or reiki practitioner who wants their clients to just rest after a session. It would be good at the end of a meditation to reintigrate, or relax focus, and just maintain a sense of presence. It would be very good at the beginning of a meditation practice, to call in gentle and warm presence.

After three minutes, the tone is still going, but is pretty quiet and hard to hear after that.

We are sending along the gong with an orange fuzzbucket mallet, which we have found produces the nicest tone from the gong.

The tube is made from aluminum, and is it suspended over a finished wooden base by string.
