Build Your Own Rawhide Frame Drum

When And How Will It Ship: These drum kits typically will ship the day of or after ordering. They ship with either USPS or FedEx, and will arrive typically 3-7 days after shipment.

What You’ll Receive:

  1. One precut rawhide round in the animal hide selected, large enough to build to drum size chosen.
  2. 2 Pieces of suede lace to wrap the back of the handle
  3. One maple frame
  4. Rawhide lace long enough to lace the drum as pictured
  5. Step by Step instructions written by our drum maker

Product Description: This kit gives you everything you need to build your own frame drum. The rawhide round is large enough to fully wrap over the frame. The lace provided is long enough to lace the drum into a four directions handle. You will need to purchase a leather punch, or a leather awl, in order to punch the holes in the rawhide to lace the drum. The suede lace provided creates a comfortable grip on the back of the drum.

Medicines: For those working in a traditional way, the 'medicine quality' of the animal you are working with, may be the most important ingredient in making your choice. For those in the Great Plains, Buffalo was the Great Gift of Spirit. Elk was a great medicine giver throughout much of the mountainous regions of North America. Using the hide, like of all parts of an animal is, in indigenous philosophy, a way of honoring the animal and of completing the circle of life. We do this with great care and respect.
