The gong is made of steel. It is 18 inches, and only weighs about 3.5 lbs. 

For its size, it has a very nice deep tone, and is ideal as a hand held gong, being played around people in a sound bath. 

With the purchase, you also receive a high quality soft mallet. There is no need to purchase another mallet for this gong.
