Our owner Zacciah has used a 22" REMO Native American Style synthetic vegan drum, as his main drum for his therapeutic session, meditations and ceremonies, for many years. The tone they produce can be rich and multilayered, with a deep bass note, and lots of vibration. Because the head of the drum is made from a synthetic material, the drum can be played in all weather conditions and the sound of the drum will be the same. This means that you don't need to think of if the head of your drum is too tight or too loose before playing it. You can just pick the drum up and it is good to go. The drum can even be played in the rain! For these reasons the Buffalo drum is an excellent choice for drum circles, sweat lodges, healing, ritual, and ceremony.

The 14 inch Buffalo drum would be appropriate for someone who needs a little bit of bass note, but is mostly considering needing to hold the drum for a long period of time, as it is lighter in weight than the 16 or 22 inch drums.

The 16 and 22 inch buffalo drums have much more resonance and bass to them. The 22 inch in particular has such a large head that you can get a wide variety of notes from it depending on where you hit it, higher and lower.

Lastly the 16 inch Black Bahia Buffalo Drum is black, and has a thicker synthetic head. With it you get a pure bass note that is almost as deep as the 22" Buffalo drum, however it is much smaller and lighter than the 22" Buffalo drum, so can be easier to manage.
