What You’ll Receive: Large Silicon or Rubber Ball Striker
Product Description: Ball strikers are used the play on the side of a frosted singing bowl, instead of the rim. We have this striker available with either a rubber or silicon head.
Silicon: The silicon head is softer than the rubber. It is a white, somewhat translucent color. It will get rid of all of the contact noise between the mallet and the bowl, and just bring out the pure tone of the bowl. These mallets are good on frosted bowls, though are not great with empyrean or clear bowls.
Rubber: The rubber striker is harder than the silicon, and is off white. Because it is harder, it will make frosted bowls play faster and louder than the silicon mallet. It also can be used on the empyrean bowls, and some larger clear bowls. Some people are looking for the quick action of this mallet. Though because it is hard, there will be some contact noise between the striker and frosted bowls.
