Zen Wood Striker #ZW

Regular price $9.98

Natural contact. Clear tone.

This carved wooden striker offers a simple and direct way to work with Himalayan singing bowls—supporting steady rim singing and clear, focused tone.

With its natural, unfinished surface, it creates a consistent connection between hand and bowl.

A Direct and Responsive Surface

Made from mango wood, this striker provides a clean point of contact along the rim. The surface is smooth but unsealed, allowing for steady friction during rim singing. This supports a continuous tone that builds gradually, often bringing forward the brighter harmonics within the bowl. The interaction remains simple, with the sound responding closely to movement and pressure.

Working with Rim Singing

This striker is well suited for rim singing.

The natural wood surface allows for controlled movement around the bowl, helping the tone remain stable and continuous. Compared to varnished finishes, the unfinished wood offers a more reliable grip along the rim.

It can also be used for striking, producing a lighter and more defined sound that reveals upper tonal layers.

A Balanced and Familiar Feel

The form is compact and easy to work with. Its size supports a smooth, circular wrist motion, helping to maintain consistency during practice.

Material & Craft

Each piece is handcrafted and may vary slightly in size and grain.

Mango wood is a dense hardwood with a multi-pattern grain, offering durability and balanced weight. It is also a more sustainable material—harvested from trees that have completed their fruit-bearing life, allowing the wood to be repurposed rather than burned.

The carved handle and smooth playing surface reflect a traditional approach—simple, functional, and made for long-term use.
