Carved Wood Singing Bowl Striker #PW1M

Regular price $9.98

Direct contact. Clear resonance.

These carved wooden strikers offer a simple and reliable way to work with Himalayan singing bowls—especially for rim singing and drawing out higher harmonics.
With a natural, unfinished surface, they create a steady connection between hand and bowl.

A Natural Point of Contact

Made from mango wood, each striker provides a clean and direct interaction with the rim. The surface is smooth but unsealed, allowing for consistent friction during rim singing. This makes it easier to sustain a continuous tone without slipping, while still maintaining control. The result is a clear, focused sound—often bringing forward the brighter tones within the bowl.

Working with Rim Singing

These strikers are well suited for rim singing. The natural wood surface supports a steady movement around the bowl, helping the tone to build gradually. Compared to varnished finishes, the unfinished wood offers a more stable and responsive feel.

They can also be used for striking—producing a lighter, more defined sound that reveals upper harmonics.

Variations in Size and Feel

Each size offers a slightly different relationship with the bowl:

Small (#PW1S)
A compact and lightweight option that allows for precise control. Especially well suited for smaller bowls, where a lighter touch helps the tone emerge clearly.

Medium (#PW1M)
A longer version that offers a bit more reach and leverage. This can support a smoother, more continuous motion during rim singing while maintaining the same clarity of tone.

Both sizes work well with bowls up to approximately 9” in diameter, and tend to be most responsive with smaller bowls.

Material & Craft

Each striker is handcrafted and may vary slightly in size and grain.

Mango wood is a dense hardwood with a multi-pattern grain, offering durability and a balanced weight. It is also a more sustainable material—harvested from trees that have completed their fruit-bearing life, allowing the wood to be repurposed rather than burned.

The carved handle and smooth playing surface reflect a traditional approach—simple, functional, and made for long-term use.
