Buddha Wood Suede Singing Bowl Striker #BSBl
Soft contact. Centered tone.
This suede-wrapped striker offers a quieter and more rounded way to work with Himalayan singing bowls—softening the point of contact while maintaining a steady and responsive feel.
With a simple shift in material, the tone settles into a more centered and diffuse expression.
A Softened and Responsive Surface
The suede-wrapped playing surface creates a gentle interaction with the rim of the bowl. Compared to natural wood, the contact is softer and slightly muted. This allows the sound to open more gradually, often drawing out mid-range tones with less emphasis on sharp or bright harmonics. The result is a smoother and more continuous voice.
Working with Mid-Range Tone
This striker is particularly well suited for bowls in the 5”–7” range.
The softer surface supports a steady rim-singing motion while allowing the tone to remain stable and balanced. It can also be used for light striking, producing a more rounded and less percussive sound.
The tone tends to sit in the middle range—neither overly bright nor overly deep.
A Balanced and Natural Feel
The body of the striker is made from mango wood, offering a stable and comfortable grip. The length supports a smooth, circular wrist motion, helping maintain consistency during rim singing. The overall weight remains light, allowing for subtle adjustments in pressure and speed.
Material & Craft
Each piece is handcrafted and may vary slightly in size and grain.
Mango wood is a dense hardwood with a multi-pattern grain, offering durability and balanced weight. It is also a more sustainable material—harvested from trees that have completed their fruit-bearing cycle, allowing the wood to be repurposed rather than burned.
The suede surface introduces a softer point of contact, expanding the tonal range without adding complexity.
The handle features a carved Buddha detail, adding a quiet visual presence while maintaining the simplicity of the tool.
