The Sunreed™ Drum Gong brings together the deep resonance of a large frame drum with the suspended playing style of a gong. Made with a 30" high vibration goat skin head, and designed to hang freely from its included gong stand, the Drum Gong produces an exceptionally deep tone with a strong physical presence and layers of vibration that can be both heard and felt.

The drum is tunable, allowing you to adjust the tension of the head to explore different voices. Lower the tuning for a deeper, more spacious bass tone, or increase the tension to bring the voice of the drum higher. This flexibility makes the Drum Gong a remarkably expressive instrument for working with rhythm, resonance, and sustained vibration.

Played Like a Gong

Suspending the drum from the gong stand allows the entire instrument to resonate freely. A gentle strike brings forth a deep fundamental tone followed by a broad field of vibration and overtones.

The Drum Gong includes two Sunreed™ Soft Beaters, which are designed to bring out the deepest and warmest voice possible from the drum. Played softly, the instrument can provide a spacious pulse within a sound bath or therapeutic session. With greater intensity, its size and resonance give it a powerful presence for drum circles and group practice.

Use in Practice

Begin simply with a single soft strike and listen as the vibration moves through the drum and into the surrounding space. Allow the tone to develop and fade before striking again, following the resonance rather than immediately creating a rhythm.

From there, you can explore slow pulses, alternating strokes, or more rhythmic playing. Its deep voice makes the Sunreed™ Drum Gong especially well suited for sound baths, drum circles, meditation, therapeutic sessions, and other practices where a strong foundation of low-frequency sound is desired.
