Working with Size and Tone

Frosted bowls are available in a wide range of sizes, and size has a direct effect on the sound:

7"–9"
Higher in pitch, lighter in volume, and quicker to respond. These are more focused tones, though with less depth and sustain.

10"–14"
Balanced in tone, volume, and playability. These sizes are often the most versatile for both personal and professional use.

16" and above
Deeper in pitch, with stronger vibration and longer sustain. These bowls create a more immersive field of sound, though they require more physical space and presence to work with.
