Designed for striking rather than rim singing, it supports a quieter and more controlled interaction with the bowl.

A Softened Point of Contact

The handle is wrapped in red wool felt, creating a cushioned surface where the striker meets the bowl. This softens the initial impact, reducing sharper overtones and allowing the sound to open more gradually. The resulting tone tends to emphasize mid-range and lower frequencies, with less brightness at the top. The interaction remains simple and controlled.

Designed for Striking

This striker is best used for striking across the rim or gently gonging the bowl.

The felt surface is too soft for rim singing, but this same softness allows for a more rounded and less percussive strike. The tone emerges evenly, without sharp attack.

The body is made from mango wood, a dense hardwood known for its durability and balanced weight. It is also a more sustainable material—harvested from trees that have completed their fruit-bearing life, allowing the wood to be repurposed rather than burned.

The red felt wrapping introduces a softer point of contact, shaping the tone without adding complexity.
