Koshi Chimes

Koshi chimes offer a soft, melodic voice that unfolds into a continuous and gently layered field of sound.

Handcrafted at the foot of the Pyrenees Mountains in France, each chime is made with care and precision. The bamboo body holds eight finely tuned metal rods, creating a rich interplay of tones and overtones that feel light, balanced, and quietly uplifting.

A Clear and Harmonious Voice

Each chime carries its own tonal identity, while maintaining a consistent clarity and softness.

Available in four tunings:

Ignis (Fire)
Aria (Air)
Aqua (Water)
Terra (Earth)

Each tuning offers a slightly different tonal color, yet all share the same flowing, circular quality—where tones blend into one another without a fixed beginning or end.

A Practice-Centered Approach

This is an instrument of simplicity and attention.

It can be used within a larger sound field, or on its own. A gentle movement is enough to bring the tones forward.

You may hold the chime and softly sway it, allowing the sound to unfold naturally. Following each tone from beginning to end can support a quiet settling of attention, breath, and awareness.

Even a few minutes of listening can create a sense of calm and clarity—making it a useful tool for both dedicated practice and simple, everyday reset.

Form and Placement

The chime is lightweight and easy to use.

It can be held in the hand, or hung in a doorway or near an open window, where natural movement can activate its sound. The size and balance make it easy to incorporate into both personal and shared spaces.
