The Musical Mushroom offers a different way of working with crystal singing bowls—allowing the bowl to be played without a mallet, through touch and proximity.

Placed inside the bowl, the unit responds to the presence of your hand, activating a steady vibration that brings the bowl into sound.

A New Way of Entering the Tone

Instead of striking or circling the rim, the bowl is activated through a sensor. As your hand moves closer or further away, the intensity of the sound changes—allowing for gradual control over volume and presence. Once a tone is established, it can continue on its own—creating a sustained field without ongoing physical contact.

Continuous Sound

The system allows the bowl to maintain a steady tone over time.

You may set a consistent level, or introduce gentle pulsing—allowing the sound to shift while remaining continuous.

Multiple units can be used together, creating layered harmonies that remain active while you move through the space.

Use in Practice

This tool supports a more spacious and flexible approach.

With the bowl sustaining on its own, attention can move elsewhere—whether working with additional instruments, guiding a session, or engaging more directly with others.

In practice, it may support:

• maintaining a continuous tonal field without manual playing

• shaping sound through proximity rather than contact
  
• creating steady or gently pulsing tones
  
• freeing movement during individual or group sessions
  

Expanded Control

The Musical Mushroom can also be connected to external devices.

When paired with a MIDI setup, the bowl can be programmed and controlled digitally—allowing for more structured or automated sound patterns if desired.

Important Compatibility Notes
Designed for use with standard crystal singing bowls (frosted, clear, and colored).

Not recommended for:

• very thin-walled crystal bowls (such as alchemy-style bowls)
  
• metal Tibetan singing bowls or gongs
  
• frosted bowls less than 10" in size
