The 21 W x 11.5 D x 10.5 T body is slightly larger than most standard harmoniums; providing more air volume over the two banks of reeds. The fixed keyboard has 32 White keys, for just over three octaves. Four drones (top pulls) and Four stops (lower pulls) direct the air over the upper or lower reeds. Integral bellows can be played left or right handed. The reeds in the harmonium are tuned to 440 +/- 3 cents. Finish color and decoration style may vary from photo.
This instrument was introduced to India by the British. It has been embraced and is now a truly Indian instrument used as accompaniment in devotional songs. As with many Indian instruments the key for the music is selected to best suite the vocals, or to set a mood.
